Compliance required: Paid events need a valid 10-digit TIN and uploaded documents (TIN card + Government ID or Business License). You can enter these when selecting Paid pricing or later in the Event Dashboard. Revenue withdrawal requires Approved compliance status.
Financial terms (read before selling)
- 3% platform commission on each ticket sale (e.g. 100 ETB ticket → 3 ETB to Kelal Gateway)
- 3% withholding tax (WHT) withheld from organizer proceeds and paid to the Ministry of Revenue monthly on your behalf
- All amounts are in Ethiopian Birr (ETB)
- Guests pay through Kelal Gateway payment gateways — Telebirr, M-PESA, CBEBirr, AwashBirr Pro, and NIBTera (Nib International Bank USSD push)
You must accept the paid-event terms popup the first time you choose paid pricing.
Prerequisites
- Signed in to Kelal Gateway
- Registered as an event organizer (menu → Organizer Dashboard → complete Organizer Registration if prompted)
- TIN number ready (individual or company)
- Compliance images: PNG/JPG only
- Wallet setup recommended for receiving payouts
Wizard flow
Same four steps as all events — see Event creation overview. Below focuses on paid-specific choices.
Event Registration — paid settings
1 Attendance mode
- In person only — sell venue tickets (General / VIP / Early Bird)
- In person + Kelal Live — venue tickets plus optional paid/free stream pass
- Online only — sell Kelal Live access only; set a livestream price (must be > 0)
2 Registration style = Tickets
Select Tickets (free or paid). Do not use RSVP or Donation for standard paid admission.
3 Event pricing = Paid
When you select Paid:
- Paid terms & commission popup appears — read and accept
- Enter your 10-digit TIN (and business license number if company)
- Upload compliance documents if not already on file
4 Set ticket tiers
For in-person or hybrid events, configure any combination:
- General Admission — price + quantity limit
- VIP — premium price + limit
- Early Bird — discounted price + limit
Use the numeric keypad for prices and limits. At least one tier must have a price greater than zero.
5 Kelal Live pricing (if applicable)
- Hybrid: toggle Kelal Live on and set stream price or mark stream free
- Stream only: livestream price is required and venue ticket section is hidden
6 Visibility
- Public paid — listed for anyone to buy tickets
- Private paid — invite-only; guests use your private link to purchase
7 Complete media & details → Venue → Review
Venue options for paid events
- Public venue — full profile; best for clubs and ticketed shows
- Private venue — address plus required private venue description (event location details), shared privately with paying guests after purchase
Venue type does not change payment flow — only how the location is displayed.
Launch & dashboard
After Launch Event:
- Public paid → Event Dashboard
- Private paid → Private Party Dashboard (same management tools, private link focus)
Monitor Total Tickets, Checked In, and (after event ends) Revenue and Commission.
Compliance & wallet
If compliance is incomplete when you open a paid dashboard, an upload prompt appears. After upload, status becomes Under Review until Kelal Gateway approves.
To withdraw earnings: Organizer Dashboard → Wallet (requires approved compliance).

- Configure menu & free drinks if applicable
- Tap Start Event — enables QR scanning
